Baratti and Populonia Archaeological Park

Located between the slopes of the Piombino promontory and the Gulf of Baratti, just a few kilometers from Riotorto and Piombino, this archaeological park is a fascinating site rich in ancient ruins and structures.

Populonia was one of the most important centers of trade and metallurgy during the Etruscan and Roman periods, where iron extracted from Elba Island was processed.

The park features necropolises, quarries, and ancient industrial settlements, all accessible through a well-maintained network of walking trails.
