Park of Baratti and Populonia

Distance: 20 km

Between the slopes of the promontory of Piombino and the Gulf of Baratti, a few miles from Riotorto and Piombino, this is a very interesting archaeological park to the ruins and buildings remain. Populonia was one of the most important centers for trade and metallurgical activity in Etruscan and Roman times, where it was working the iron extracted from the Island of Elba. The park consists of burial, quarrying and industrial villages that are visited by an extensive network of footpaths equipped.
